Remembering Win Oo… Sky Music Executive Club & Restaurant that organizes special promotion nights for music lovers has done it again.  Its third event, “Win Oo Night”, which was held on June 30th, 2001 was a sell-out.  It was to celebrate the life of multi-talented movie, music, literature artist and multi academy award winner Win Oo.

Famous artists from the movie, music and literature industry such as Yan Aung, Thu Maung, Soe Thu, Than Myat Soe, Tin Aung Moe, Yadana Oo, Graham, etc. joined hands to celebrate the much loved and admired life of Win Oo.  Yan Aung opened the event with one of Win Oo’s famous songs “Mingalar Sutaung”.  Sky Music Club was decorated with Win Oo theme.  A large painting of Win Oo greeted the audience as they got out of the elevator and his picture from the movie “Chitsayar Maung Maung” was hung in the restaurant hall. Win Oo’s adoptive father, Ret. Deputy Col. Hla Moe, brought this painting for the occasion. Another large Win Oo painting was hung on the wall behind the stage.

Members of the audience presented roses to the singers as a way of showing their appreciation.  At the end of Yan Aung’s rendition of the famous “Khine Malar Hhinsi”, Daw Irine Tin Hla, went up to the stage and presented Yan Aung a single rose.  Daw Irine Tin Hla was the beneficiary of Win Oo’s estate according to his will.  It has been many years since Win Oo died but his many fans still miss him.  A night like this should assuage the sorrow from the hearts of all those who love Win Oo.  (Myanmar Version)

Sky Music’s Myo Kyawt Myaing and Santana Night… Sky Music Executive Club and Bar held its second promotion event on June 23rd.  The restaurant is located on the 12th floor of Royal Yangon City Hotel at the 8th mile junction.  Its first promotion event was a performance by Playboy Than Naing.

The event started at 7pm with 3MS’ performance with its two main vocalists singing in English.  After awhile when the audience has filled up the hall, Myo Kyawt Myaing started his singing.  The enthusiastic singer can be seen all smiles as he sang his hit songs and his audience sang along with him.  There were many from the music industry among the audience: Saung Oo Hlaing, Alex, Maung Maung Htway (Heart), Ukkar U Thar (Lazy Club), members of “Kook” girl band and some members from Acid.

At about his 7th song, models from Super Star Model Agency started their cat walks and dance programs.  Models in their fashion catwalks and (western) dance routines are now a popular trend in events like this.

For the second part of his show, Myo Kyawt Myaing opened with “chit tain lae manyar”, a very popular song, which he sang duet with Alex.  Okkar U Thar from Lazy Club band also played keyboard for one of Myo Kyawt Myaing’s songs.  Myo Kyawt Myaing also introduced a song from his album that is coming out later this year.

After Myo Kyawt Myaing’s fabulous performance, the equally popular Santana Night started.  This is a program where members from once famous music bands came together for a fun time playing Carlos Santana’s songs.  Peter Ba Thein from Super Star band, Hpo Kalae, Sai Tin Win, Zaw Win Shane from Play Boy and L.P.J, Htait Tin Thin (Kyi Thar Pwe Kyite Khin) from Gita Zali, Myat Min and Myat Soe from 3MS participated in playing and singing Santana’s songs.  The program turned out to be a very successful event and some members of the audience were seen coming up to the front of the stage to dance to the lively music.

Peter Ba Thein and Ko Myat Hein who thought up and created Sky Music said this place is opened not only for business but also to make this a special place for music lovers to meet.  They will be organizing more events like this in the future. (Myanmar Version)

Silver Oak’s Wish for Graham : Silver Oak is a trendy bar opened by two hairstylists/beauticians Ko Ko and Nyi Nyi.  It is located on Bo Aung Gyaw Street (lower block).  Their beauty salon is next to the bar.  Ko Ko and Nyi Nyi, who circulate in the entertainment industry, have their close singer friends and new music groups entertain at their bar.  On June 22nd, they had Graham and audiences went gaga over his performance.  Graham sings for many television commercials and is also a famous singer.  One famous beautician hired a photographer to take pictures of this night with Graham.  While other fans gave Graham one or two flowers at a time (one flower costs 2,000Kyats at Silver Oak), the beautician offered Graham a whole bunch of flowers and proved that he is the biggest fan.  Graham’s fans at the bar also wished that their beloved singer’s success may last forever.  (Myanmar Version)
