different species of bamboo, not all edible. The inside of the shoots
is used as food after the tough outer leaves have been removed. Fermented
bamboo shoot with meat dish is polular in Myanmar.

slices of tender banana flower are eaten raw with the pungent dip
known as nga pe yay or mixed in a salad.

Nga-pyaw-ou : A banana
plant is used for more than just its fruit. Its flowers, leaves and
trunk are also important in the cuisines of Myanmar. The heart of
the main stem is used in famous national dish called Moh Hin Gha.
The tender inner portion of the trunk can be boiled and eaten as dipper-
toh sayar.
